We had a call from a convenor asking about the frequency of cleaning air conditioning units in tuckshops. Our friendly QH Environmental Health Officer contact shared the following:
A food business must maintain food premises to a standard of cleanliness where there is no accumulation of garbage, except in garbage containers; recycled matter, except in containers; food waste; dirt; grease; or other visible matter.
How often would depend on usage, design, air flow, ventilation, level of particulates generated (eg deep fryers) how quickly visible matter accumulates on the filters, etc.
Don't hesitate to contact us at the office if you would like additional information around this topic.

Ours are done on the last day of each month.

We have one in our tuckshop paid $4000 for ours 2 years ago but it's industrial grade and school has it cleaned once a year with all the others around the school.
