Get involved and make an impact

Do you have a passion for the important work that tuckshops do and want the satisfaction of being part of something bigger? Then consider joining QAST’s Management Committee.

Like any organisation, QAST is only as good as the people who make us up. We’re looking for people who are passionate about building capacity, confidence and connections in schools, and who want to help us achieve our vision of Healthy tuckshsops, healthy schools, healthy children.

The Management Committee has the following positions available:

  • 6 positions for tuckshop convenors
  • 2 school community members
  • 2 Health and Education members
  • 2 parent body representatives.

Whether you’re working in a tuckshop or in your school community, we welcome nominations from anyone who wants to make an impact.

Keen to learn more about what’s involved? Take a look at the full position description.

What’s the time commitment?

Wondering if you can fit it into your busy schedule? You may be surprised to discover that you don’t have to commit too much of your time to be involved.

The committee meets once every second month. This generally falls on a Wednesday afternoon, from 3.30pm to 5.00pm. The meetings are held in the QAST office at Coorparoo, and for those who can’t make it in person, online via Zoom.

Aside from this, there are usually a few emails between meetings for information purposes; some may require responses or input.

Committee Members are also expected to attend the annual QAST planning day, which is usually held in the first week of the Christmas break. The full-day meeting offers:

  • Orientation for new committee members
  • Opportunities to provide input on the day-to-day running of QAST
  • Networking and sharing of feedback and ideas
  • Forward-planning for the year ahead.

The 2024 Planning Day will be held on 18 December at the QAST office from 10am to 4pm.

What’s in it for you?

When you join the QAST Management Committee you become part of something bigger. You bring a voice for our members and have a chance to shape the strategic direction of the Association.

Other benefits include:

  • A Management Committee position is a great addition to your resumé
  • It gives you the opportunity to expand your skill set
  • Networking with other like-minded, tuckshop-focused colleagues
  • Playing a part in shaping the health outcomes for children.
