There are four types of contamination.Always wash fruit and vegetables before preparing them, ensure that all chemicals used in the tuckshop are food safe. Foods and packaging should not be stored near chemicals.Just keep an eye out for foreign matter as you work with products.This is the most common type of contamination. Bacteria are the most common organisms to cause food contamination and food poisoning.Incorrect storage of foods is the most common cause of food contamination, along with inadequate cooking, poor personal hygiene, cross contamination and poor quality incoming goods. Separate cutting boards and utensils for raw and cooked foods are important, some tuckshops will have different coloured boards for different tasks. It is important to follow the standard operating procedures developed by the convenor.
