COVID-19: Mandatory Vaccines

On Tuesday, 30 November 2021, the Queensland Premier announced a new Health Direction for workers in high-risk settings, including schools.

From 11.59pm 23 January 2022, mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations will be required for all people working or delivering a service at a school or early childhood education and care setting. This includes contractors, volunteers regulators and auditors.

Workers will need to have received 1 dose of the COVID-19 vaccination by 17 December 2021 and the second dose by 23 January 2022.

‘People delivering a service’ includes contractors, volunteers, regulators and auditors, such as school tuckshop convenors and volunteers.

What does it mean for school tuckshops?

P&Cs Queensland has developed a range of useful resources and FAQs to answer how the mandate will affect school tuckshops, including:

  • Who the mandate applies to
  • How to provide proof of vaccination status
  • How to enforce restrictions
  • How to inform employees of the change.

They have also developed resources for tuckshop staff and volunteers:
