Employment Support Services and Award

State Schools

Access the full Parents and Citizens Associations Award for Queensland state school tuckshop/canteen convenors. This document should be accessible to employees in the workplace.

Independent and Catholic Schools

From 1 January 2010, modern awards apply in most workplaces. The commencement of modern awards means that there have been changes to minimum terms and conditions for many employees. The changes vary by State, industry and employer.

The Department of Justice

The Department of Justice and the Attorney-General continues to support employers and employees that remain in the State system and has an Industrial Relations Services Unit to provide advice and information on your rights and obligations as an employee and as an employer. Information also includes details on reporting workplace incidents, how to request an inspection and training packages available.

Support Services

P&Cs Queensland

Provides support to P&Cs Associations and includes guidelines on employment in their operations manual and regular updates on their website and through their Parent Talk magazine.

P&Cs Qld also have a HR Support Service.

Basic Rights Queensland (formerly Queensland Working Women’s Service)

A specialist community legal centre, providing free advice, advocacy and legal services state-wide by telephone.

United Workers Union (previously United Voice)

Members work in a wide range of occupations including hospitality, education, security, health, manufacturing and community services.

Members of the United Workers Union can access a range of services including free advice on work related matters. Members can contact the Qld team on 1800065885 or contact (02) 82043001 for information on membership benefits and cost.

Shop, Distributors and Allied Employees Association (SDA Union)

The SDA is the Union for Retail, Fast Food and Warehousing workers. Members can access a range of services, including assistance and representation with workplace issues.
