School tuckshops and canteens play an important role in shaping the food environment students experience every day.
This Healthier Tuckshops resource has been developed to help tuckshop convenors, staff, volunteers and school communities use simple product placement, positioning, pricing and promotion strategies to encourage healthier choices.
Children consume a significant proportion of their daily food intake at school, so small changes to the way food and drinks are displayed, described, priced and promoted can support positive food habits while also helping tuckshops operate efficiently and sustainably.
This resource is designed to complement the Smart Choices guidelines and provide practical ideas that can be applied in both physical tuckshop spaces and online ordering systems.
This resource was developed as part of the Healthier Tuckshops program funded by the Queensland Government through Health and Wellbeing Queensland.
